Rooted in Christ, Reaching the World

“And be ye rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.” –  Colossians 2:7 (KJV)

A tree with deep roots can withstand strong winds and produce lasting fruit. In the same way, believers who are rooted in Christ find strength, stability, and purpose. Our relationship with Jesus is not meant to remain hidden; it is meant to influence the world around us.

The Old Testament gives us a beautiful example in Joseph. Though he faced betrayal, slavery, and imprisonment, Joseph remained faithful to God. Because he stayed rooted in the Lord, God used him to save many lives during a famine (Genesis 41:39-41; 57). Joseph’s faithfulness reached far beyond his personal circumstances and became a blessing to nations.

Another example is Daniel, who remained steadfast in prayer and obedience despite living in a foreign land. His unwavering devotion to God became a testimony before kings and entire kingdoms (Daniel 6:10, 25-27). Daniel’s life reminds us that a person deeply rooted in God can have a powerful influence wherever they are planted.

In the New Testament, we see this truth in the lives of the disciples. After spending time with Jesus, they carried His message to the world. Peter boldly preached the Gospel, and thousands believed (Acts 2:41). Paul travelled across regions sharing Christ and helping churches grow in faith (Acts 20:23-24). Their impact flowed from their relationship with the Lord.

Today, God calls us to do the same. We grow through prayer, studying the Scripture, worship, and obedience. As our roots deepen in Christ, His love, grace, and truth naturally reach our families, communities, workplaces, and beyond by our example. A life firmly planted in Jesus becomes a channel through which others can experience Him.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for calling us to be rooted in Christ. Help us to grow deeper in faith through Your Word and through daily fellowship with You. Strengthen us to stand firm in every season and to reflect Your love wherever we go. Use our lives to reach others with the hope of the Gospel. May our words and actions point people to Jesus, in Jesus’ precious name we pray, Amen.
